Biased and offensive insight into tattoo history

Someone re-issued this book again??

Tattoo is a weird book. It was originally published in 1933 and is a classic example of tattoo stigma. Page after page of made up "facts" about tattooed men and women and all the horrible things they do/are/etc. Please read this book only as an example of a historical viewpoint on tattooing, not as actual tattoo history.

The Truth Hurts Brilliant

This book is outstanding in everyway!
It has information in it from interviews
with the fore fathers of modern tattooing
including Wagner, Oreilly and Lew the jew
just to name a few.

I have been tattooing for 20 plus years and i still
consider this to be the most accurate compilation
of history around the greatest american tattooers
that have come before us.

Sure there is references to things that may upset, the Homophobic
or typical redneck (fly by night tattooist), but considering, that the
author Albert Parry was an outstanding journilist in his day,the information here
is spot on. and can be checked at the tattoo archives and they to give this book
credence.

This book i reccomend for the serious tattoer its inexpensive and a great book!

beautifully and sweetly and perfectly done!! 5 huge stars!

From the moment I first heard about Natasza Waters writing and sharing a book about this particular subject…. I knew something special was going to be given to me. However, I didn’t realize just how special it was till one moment near the end, where something I knew in my head sunk deeper into my heart…. it’s kinda the opposite of the golden rule: If I accept others for who they are beyond skin deep, why can’t I believe and trust others to accept me?

His Perfect Imperfection is a beautiful, profound story that captured my heart from the first words in the dedication to the last words of the epilogue. I was enthralled by Mika (love that name btw!) and Cain’s journey from meeting to falling in love, from enjoying each other’s presence to digging deep and discovering the depths of each other’s souls. Cain’s determination to not give up on Mika and show her the woman she really is and Mika’s love, bravery, acceptance, and affection towards others endeared them both close to my heart.

Natasza wrote a novel that touches on things not usually seen in romance books and just that alone is refreshing and challenging. This story just continues to make a reader realize that they aren’t alone in whatever they’re struggling with, and that they are loved and beautiful, no matter what the outside world may choose to think. This is a book you do not want to miss!

Thank you, Natasza, for being brave and sharing this touching and beautiful story. It is on my favorites shelf and will be revisited often!

Natasza Waters is one of my favourite authors. I absolutely love her Code Name series & re-read them whenever I can. When I heard she was writing another book I was super excited. I had every faith that Natasza wouldn't disappoint me. This story blew my expectations out of the water.

I loved every word of this book. I'm not the type that cries while reading lots of books. However the tears rolled down my face during this read. I felt the characters emotions and I loved how the author portrayed them as real people.

The storyline is epic. No I'm not giving anything away about the storyline. I feel you gotta just jump in and feel this story.

Mika and Cain are the main characters. I absolutely loved them both. Cain is my new book boyfriend. Yes he's mine.

Fantastic story!!

I am a big Natasza Waters fan. I discovered her Warrior’s Challenge books by accident through a romantic suspense forum, and I have yet to find one that I did not like. I have since joined her newsletter so that I will not miss the release of any of her books. Therefore, when this book, His Perfect Imperfection, came out, I bought it immediately
I have had it on my Kindle for several months before I finally made the decision to read it.

At first I was hesitant because this book is not a romantic suspense like this author’s other books. However, the synopsis of the story fascinated me because there were a lot of comments that sounded very mysterious. For example, Mika has a mysterious disease that is in remission at the moment. Unfortunately this disease makes her feel like a monster and keeps her from dating or going out with anyone. She has wonderful friends that she has known all of her life (they know about her disease and accept it), but she refuses to discuss her disease or let anyone see her without baggy clothes. In fact, we don’t find out anything about her disease until much later in the book.

Cain, the hero, is also very mysterious. “Women are Cain’s business. The fantasy he sells has made him a wealthy but empty man.” Cain is not your typical romance hero. But I see him as a hero because he is loving and caring toward Miko and refuses to judge her based on her reactions.

These two “scarred” people become wonderful friends who are able to help each other cope with their lack of self-esteem and their loneliness. Eventually they fall in love with each other. However this love comes with a lot of angst, a lot of work and a lot of help from each other. It is not an easy relationship.

This book is not a romantic suspense, but it is an absolutely fantastic read. The author’s style enables us to feel everything each character experiences as if we were right there with them. She also describes each character in a realistic way, including their strengths and weaknesses, bad characteristics as well as the good characteristics I absolutely could not put this book down until it was finished.

I do have one small warning. The prologue talks about Abel and Cain as they appear in the Bible. My first thought when I saw that was that I was reading a deeply inspirational and/or religious book. I was a little concerned when I read the prologue that I had misunderstood the genre of the book. However, I was wrong. The only reason the author mentions these characters from the Bible is because the hero’s name is Cain, and his brother’s name is Abel.

The end of the prologue talks about Cain’s lot in life and how he must work to do what is right in this world. This is a wonderful reminder of the Bible story and allows me to make comparisons with the characters in the story. This is not a religious book; it is an uplifting book about how important it is not to judge people by superficial factors. We need to look inside a person before we decide on how we view them and react to them.

Challenging the tendency of histories of the press to foreground processes of ‘Americanisation’ and the displacement of older notions of the ‘fourth estate’ by new forms of human interest journalism, the chapters draw attention to the complex ways in which the popular press continued to be politicized throughout the interwar period. Building on this analysis, the book examines the forms, processes and networks through which newspapers were produced for public consumption. In a period of massive social, political and economic upheaval and conflict, the popular press provided a forum in which Europe’s meanings and nature could be constructed and contested. The interpersonal, material and technological links between newspapers, news corporations and news agencies in different countries served to define the outlines of Europe. Europe was called into being through the circulation of news and the practices and networks of the modern mass press traced in this volume. This publication is highly relevant to scholars of the history of journalism and cultural historians of interwar Britain and Europe.

About the Author

Sarah Newman has recently completed her doctorate The Celebrity Gossip Column and Newspaper Journalism in Britain, 1918-1939 at Linacre College, University of Oxford, UK. Her research interests lie in the social and cultural history of twentieth-century Britain, particularly the history of newspaper journalism, popular print and celebrity culture.

Matt Houlbrook is Senior Lecturer in Modern British History at the University of Birmingham, UK. He works on the cultural history of 20th century Britain, with particular interests in gender, sexuality and selfhood. He is the author of Queer London: Perils and Pleasures in the Sexual Metropolis, 1918-57 and is currently finishing a book called The Prince of Tricksters: Cultures of Confidence in Interwar Britain.

Lavishly illustrated guide to 1000 European species

This guide is on a par with the older Roger Phillips "Mushrooms" and very similar in size and format. Unlike Phillips, all photographs have been shot in situ. With so few guides to fungi available, and each covering a particular selection of species, it's best to assemble a good library - and this should be one of the major works. Even though the focus is Europe, many of the fungi have much wider ranges and this book is invaluable elsewhere in the world too (I use it regularly in temperate and tropical America).

An excellent, carefully compiled reference

This is a very useful book because it has well-taken pictures that show the habitat where the fungi was found. Also, the beginning of the book has pictures of spores as they look under a microscope and a color chart for the colors described in the text. The description of each fungi also lists any chemical reagent useful for identification and the expected result. A wonderful identification guide. He should write a similar book for fungi of the United States.

The only conjugation guide you will ever need

Smaller AND much more extensive than just about every other French "verb" book on the market, this tiny volume is the ultimate conjugation cheat-sheet. The verbs are broken down into all their separate conjugation groups (because, hint: most "irregular" French verbs aren't that irregular), and every single verb form is given. There are no bells and whistles here, no "bonus" sections or anything like that - just a really excellent book on French verb conjugation. You won't ever regret getting this.

This book is better than Barron's 501 French Verbs. Flip to the back of the book to look up which verb you want to conjugate and it will give you the page of the example verb. Flip to the page, follow the pattern and you are good to go! Great for intermediate french, or beginners who are serious about continuing french in later years - much better investment than the Barron's 501. Enjoy!

Romans 1:19-20 …because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.

First: God created each human being with an inner awareness that He exists.
Second: the evidence for God’s existence is known by the things that we can see all around us—creation (being understood by the things that are made).

God is a necessity: There no rational explanation for the existence of the universe outside the reality of a transcendent being, who possesses unlimited knowledge and power. Every thinking person on this planet understands that all things which have a beginning, have a cause. This would of course exclude God, since He is eternal and has no beginning.

A universe as vast and complex—yet clearly ordered, balanced, and calibrated to make life possible, must have a source that is infinite and eternal. Scientists know today that life on earth was made possible because of the precise manner in which the universe began. Had it not formed in a specific way, no life would have been possible on earth nearly 13 billion years later.

A finely tuned universe designed for life: The argument for a finely tuned universe is the most compelling evidence to prove the existence of God, because it demonstrates by science and mathematics that an intelligence is behind the universe. Leading atheist and author of “The God Delusion,” Professor Richard Dawkins admits that a finely tuned universe is a “wholly respectable reason for believing” the universe was created:

“There may be good reasons for believing in a god, and if there are any I would expect them to come from possibly modern physics, from cosmology, from the observation that (as some people claim), that laws and constants of the universe are too finely tuned to be an accident. That would not be a wholly disreputable reason for believing in some form of supernatural deity.”

The reality that the universe exhibits design characteristics which are only possible by intelligence, demands a rational answer. Science is able to tell us the mechanics of how the universe exists but it cannot tell us why it exists. To this end, only the One who made all things can fully satisfy our need to know and understand why we are here and what our purpose is.

Every System Is a System

This book, if not the first, is one of the first to use the wonders of what scientists call "The Big Bang" and attribute it to an intelligent act. Even so, the title, A UNIVERSE FROM GOD, probably would have been more accurately titled, THIS UNIVERSE FROM GOD. What Pastor Robinson has done is take the wealth of modern knowledge gleaned by the world's greatest astrophysicists, geologists, quantum physicists, mathematicians, cosmologists and other scientists, and combined their knowledge with that of Bible scholars to show that The Big Bang was not an extemporaneous act of nature, but one of an immensely intelligent, powerful, and eternal Creator.

The Big Bang is certainly the greatest display of both power and order ever detected by man. And it's given him much to ponder, especially when science has witnessed the aftermath of the greatest, single display in the Cosmos.

But I suspect the author has set his sights a little low. People always assume that this great universe is all there is. It wasn't until 1924 that we humans learned that the Milky Way Galaxy was only one of millions upon trillions of other galaxies in our universe. It fit into what I'd heard read from a very ancient document which read in part: "All systems are systems in the midst of like systems." It struck me as profound then and I've never forgotten it. But it also taught me to never stop expanding my mind. So who's to say that this universe is the only universe in existence? If our universe has some 300 sextillion stars, and a sparrow can't fall on any of them without the Lord knowing it, think if this universe was only one of billions upon billions of other universes?

Ancient writers somehow knew these things before modern science, and if there are so many universes in existence, then does ONE God govern all of them or are they each governed by their own Creators -- Creators who are peers of God? Like begets like, we are told, and all of us are called the "children of God." If Jesus was resurrected and is in the "express image" of the Father, and we are the sons of God and co-heirs with Christ, who is it that can assist in carrying out these administrative...and perhaps a more hands-on experience?

Perfect for beginners. If you are interested in learning the Yoga basics and how to incorporate them into your daily life, look
no further. Timothy Burgin does a superb job describing each pose, their benefits and giving the reader a clear picture. I've read hundreds of books geared toward beginner yogi's and this is, by far, the best.

I downloaded this book for free, and so this is another reason why I wanted to stop by and say thank you, as well as congratulate this author for such an inspiring and well-written book. This morning, I got back to my yoga routine...
I would easily pay the regular price, whether it's 2 bucks, 5 bucks or even 10 bucks. I finally found a real author and a quality book. Now back to reading and practising...
