In this book he lays out his world system. Rowbotham believed that the earth is flat; that the continents float on an ocean which has a layer of fire under it; that the lands we know are surrounded by an infinite wilderness of ice and snow, beyond the Antarctic ocean, bordered by an immense circular ice-cliff. The Zetetic Sun, moon, planets and stars are all only a few hundred miles above the surface of the earth. A FE book that shows all of the important tests that prove we do not live on a globe.

This is a very old book, but if you have been studying about flat earth , then this is one of the most important books to read. Even though it was written so long ago, the tests can be done as well today as they were then, and will help you to undertand that this earth is something different than what we are being told that it is.
Some of the tests are better for a person with a mathmatical mind; but even if the whole process of the test does not make perfect sense, you will understand the gist of what they are measuring.
This is on Rob Skiba's "must-read " list , and if you have heard about flat earth, you know how important Rob Skiba is in the search for truth.

Interesting, but formatting is not the best

Excellent travel memoir about travel around the region in the title. It dates to 1910, and gives an interesting look at the area before WWI. It's a little rambly and goes off on tangents, but worth the read.

However, the formatting is not so good. There's the usual sort of OCR scan problems, although that isn't too bad. There are also stray lines popping up and unforntunately, no working Table of Content or chapter breaks.

Still, worthwhile if you're interested in the area and/or American interactions in it (specifically missionaries).

This volume is a collection of his writings, which, for the most part, document the atrocities of prison life. The reader may sympathize with Abu-Jamal's plight and even question his guilt in the shooting but will probably find this book fragmented and sketchy. Instead of a continuous narrative, Abu-Jamal offers brief notes drawn together under one theme. Good prose is drowned by ravings and accusations. One can see why Abu-Jamal's commentaries on National Public Radio were abruptly canceled. The book will probably not be of value to public or academic libraries. Mumia Abu-Jamal is an award winning journalist who became a political prisoner when he was convicted for murder based on tampered evidence, police misconduct and determination of the state to keep him quiet. The state failed in that attempt. He has written many brilliant books read all around the world. He is commonly called 'The Voice of the Voiceless'.

He rarely writes about himself, but comments on life on death row, about current affairs, about the need for people to come together to change the world. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to find an understanding of why the world is the way it is today and how to change it.

Delivered on everything it promised .it was real, honest and touched a nerve that made your heart pound. Mr. Abu-Jamal manages to write with such meaning and purpose despite the dire circumstances that he must face day to day. If this book doesn't open society's eyes about the unjust corrupt justice system not to mention the racism still very much alive in our cities.....nothing will.

I searched the earth for this book

When I was very young, I borrowed this wonderful book from a Brooklyn Public Library. The Author, Michael Burban, was a student of Robert Beverley Hale, and in his footsteps, he taught through dissecting old master drawings. There was no greater draughtsman than Michelangelo. Imagine how much can be learned from when one of the most respected artists of the Students art League, picks apart the drawings of Michelangleo. Lessons from Michelangelo. The drawings are unparalled. Burban, chooses, old and late drawings that span the life of Michelangelo. Burban, starts out by pointing out the very basics of form, perspective, proportion, gesture, then delves into artistic anatomy, and finishes with some thoughts on drapery. It stresses discipline and basics, and doesn't sell any shortcuts. After keeping this book out of the library for quite some time, it was mistakenly returned. I searched the library for months, never to see it again. I ventured to the Students art league in NY, unfortunately Burban was away for that term. I contacted a used book specialist. Nearly two years passed, and I received a phone call, the book was found, the price was twice the retail, 75 dollars, what a deal. It was the easily the best book I ever bought. I love this book, it is one of only a few books which I can say has real sentimental value. In a way it changed my life. I appreciate Michelangelo and his beautiful drawings, in no small part, thanks to this book. I wish Burban would write another book, or at least that this book would see a reprint. If you ever have a chance to buy this book, don't think twice. Its a great book.

Excellent work...sadly out of print

I just spoke to Michael Burban a few weeks ago, and am trying to convince him to release a new version of the book. He says he has learned much since he first wrote it, so the new book--if it ever comes out--should be exciting.

Great book on the work of a Master written by one!!!

I had the great privilege of studying with Mr. Burban at the Art Student's League. In this book Burban distills a great body of knowledge into digestible form for those of us aspiring to reach a level of skill commensurate with his. The determined figurative artist will read this book over and over and over again. Few teachers have broached this subject with the great ability to communicate these concepts as well as Burban, Richer and Hale. Fortunately for us the tradition of great figure drawing can continue to thrive thanks to their efforts!!!
